"Let's Make a King is something special. This album, while quintessentially still a blues record, feels modern and innovative" Chris Coxon - Hot & Cool, Durham OnAir
"Let's Make a King' might be one of the most compelling albums of 2020. Benjamin's songwriting leaves nothing unsaid and when combined with superb musicianship, you get something truly special. "

"Let’s Make a King is a very 2020 record, topic wise, mixed with the vocal delivery of Tom Waits singing songs that sound like they were penned by 1967 Bob Dylan." Read the full feature at:Blood Makes Noise

"it's an album that grabs your attention and takes you back to the days of Dylan unleashing his electric side, yes it's that good. Let's Make A King is an album I will revisit again and again, a modern-day classic." Roy Brown's Groove Machine
bio
Roy Gurel is an Israeli-born multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter & music producer, currently resides in Israel after 15 years of making music in Brooklyn, NY.
Growing up in Israel, Roy started as a guitarist playing with artists such as Corinne Allal and Eli Soorani. In New York, he co-wrote, produced and instrumented a number of albums with his band Nanuchka (with Yula Yael Beeri) and his band Electro Morocco (with Assaf Spector) as well as preforming live shows worldwide. Simultanseously, Roy was producing records for and performing with Assaf Spector, Derek James, The Blue Eighty Eights and Benjamin Adair Murphy. Roy’s exceptional guitar playing also led him to perform live with the likes of Balkan Beat Box, Assaf Amdursky, Yula and the Extended Family, Milo Z and Josh Stewart, amongst others.
In 2020, Gurel worked with Benjamin Murphy on a political blues album Lets Make a King. Roy co-wrote the music, produced, instrumented, mixed and mastered this social commentary dealing with contemporary American issues, brilliantly inscribed by Murphy.
Roy produced and instrumented his first solo debut album- Trouble Came- in 2016. In 2022, he released his second album Thongsala Prison Blues, which takes a personal introspective tone, and pays homage to the familiar heroes of song, incorporating elements of rock ‘n’ roll, folk, blues and country. Thongsala Prison Blues was conceived, written, produced, instrumented, mixed and mastered by Roy Gurel.
